Campaign Story

Kerasia is a 52-year-old writer, who is daily struggling, since she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis about 8 years ago. Ever since she was younger, Kerasia would often experience instability. The symptoms however were attributed to the herniated disks which were troubling her. As years went by, however, her condition began to gradually deteriorate, since aside from the instability, she would also experience mobility issues.  8 years ago, Kerasia reached out to a specialized neurologist, and after a series of tests, she was finally diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. As soon as she received this scary diagnosis, she immediately began to receive the recommended medication. Due to the delayed diagnosis however, her condition was far too advanced, since the lesions to the brain were extensive.

Today, Kerasia is confined to a wheelchair, unable to fend for herself. According to the doctor who monitors her condition, the 52-year-old woman needs to be immediately subjected to a physiotherapy program, which will prevent the stiffness  of the joints, while strengthening her muscular system. At the same time, Kerasia needs to receive specialized medication, since she is presenting with intense spasticity of the lower extremities. A medication however, which is not covered by her health insurance provider. Kerasia has found herself in a dead end, since she is unable to cover the cost of the physiotherapy sessions and the medications she has to receive on a daily basis. Not knowing where to turn, she reached out to ACT OF KINDNESS, and after a thorough inquiry conducted by the Organization’s medical and social department, we took on the task to support this woman, who has been facing an uphill struggle.

Kerasia is going through hard times, since her body is no longer obeying her. An energetic and independent woman has suddenly found herself unable to cover her daily needs and to fend for herself. We stand by her throughout this ordeal! Even a small gesture can make a great difference!
